Afterstation is a musical project born from musician, Scooter Price. The music is beautifully simple, yet also complex. The main complexity of Afterstation is that its music does not seem fit into a specific genre. Scooter’s focus for the project has been to write and record what feels good to him at the time, rather than writing for popularity or conformity. While most of the songs are instrumental and mainly focus on inducing feelings of peace and relaxation, there are songs which also have lyrics and vary dramatically in style from most of the other songs. Afterstation features various local artists, mainly from the Tallahassee, FL and Thomasville, GA areas. Rather than having a fixed group of musicians, Scooter brings in the musicians that he feels can get the job done for a particular song. His idea is to have a general core of musicians while featuring as many other talented, local musicians as possible along the way. With that said, Scooter is now beginning to release songs that he has written and performed alone. In 2000, the first Afterstation songs were written in Tallahassee, Florida. Scooter, most notably known as a heavy metal drummer for the band False Prophet, sat down at a keyboard and taught himself how to play chords. Once he could play chords, he discovered which chords worked together. From there, he began developing rhythms. After recording the rhythm tracks, he enlisted the help of long-time friend and fellow musician, Drew Mapp, from Tallahassee, Florida, to record guitar and bass over the keyboard tracks. Although Drew Mapp performed the guitar work for the first few songs, the first album to be released under this project was entitled Stasis (Price-Morant-diMino ). The album was titled after the musicians who performed on the album, Scooter Price, Chris Morant, and Giancarlo diMino. Ashley Eubanks was later brought in to play bass during the live shows. Ashley went onto write and record on many other Afterstation songs. Over the years, Drew Mapp and Ashley Eubanks have both continued to have a presence in many of Afterstation’s songs. Ashley can be credited with having written and recorded several songs. To date, he has remained the most active of all the musicians who have contributed to the project. From 2003-2005, several of Afterstation’s songs received airplay as accompaniment music for WCTV Channel 6’s Doppler weather radar. As of April, 2022, Afterstation has released 89 songs, which includes our new album, Rhythms of Nature. Afterstation’s 8th album is in the pre-production phase. Afterstation is currently receiving regular radio airplay reaching over 400,000 people throughout the U.S., and around the world. Through various streaming services, Afterstation now has listeners in over 100 countries.
